2. Brandon Staley is one more late-season disaster from being ousted

Depending on how their game with the Las Vegas Raiders shakes out, Brandon Staley could most definitely be on the hot seat. His constant late-game brainfarts, combined with his side of the ball being especially suspect, and you can feel the heat from here. Staley should have probably been whacked after the total playoff disaster in Duval to Jacksonville during the AFC Wild Card round.

But for now, the Los Angeles Chargers could still end up being the second-best team in the AFC West. This has everything to do with the Raiders and Denver Broncos' incompetence, as opposed to what the Bolts are all about. Still, Staley has underperformed thus far in his two-plus-year run at the helm of the Chargers. To me, it is not a matter of if, but a matter of when, he is asked to pack his stuff.

At this point, what are the Chargers? They are not a top-four team in the AFC. Until they become that, they are pretty much going to be treaded water in the superior football conference. Having Justin Herbert under center makes this job very, very appealing. However, the Chargers have a bad reputation for being cheap historically. Thus, it does prevent them from getting the best candidates.

Even with a win over the Raiders, the Chargers should be playing for something far more meaningful.
