2. Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have the second-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. More likely than not they will remain at that pick and select a quarterback.

The Commanders have had issues on the offensive line for several years now, and they just released left tackle Charles Leno. Leno was a fine player, but he was also highly available. Leno had played in every game of the season dating back to 2015, and started all of them going back to 2016 before he missed four games in 2023.

Bringing in Tyron Smith gives Washington all the same benefits as discussed with the Patriots. Protect your rookie quarterback, keep draft picks to build around him, maybe bring on a developmental player, and add leadership to the team.

Smith also has the Dan Quinn connection from their time in Dallas. And while they weren't on the same side of the ball, Smith would know a little bit about the culture Quinn wants to instill.
