5 free agents the Jets can sign to win Super Bowl next season
2. Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
While Ridley would offer the Jets a solid No. 2 receiver, there is no reason they can't shop at the top of the free agent market. The top receivers on the board are Mike Evans, who may not want to leave Tampa Bay after spending his entire career with the Buccaneers, and Tee Higgins, who is looking to get paid this spring.
Higgins has been Cincinnati's No. 2 receiver behind Ja'Marr Chase and has put up outstanding numbers, posting back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons in 2021 and 2022 before an injury-plagued 2023 saw him post 42 catches for 756 yards in 12 games.
The Jets reportedly tried to trade for Higgins in the middle of the season and were rebuffed by Cincinnati so it wouldn't be shocking if they pursued him in free agency. Adding a big-bodied receiver like Higgins is a perfect complement to Wilson, who is capable of lining up at all three receiver positions and can be moved to the slot to create mismatches with a guy like Higgins on the outside.
There is a chance the Bengals place the franchise tag on Higgins in order to try and trade him instead of losing a talented receiver for nothing. It remains to be seen if the Jets want to give up significant draft capital to acquire Higgins but they will definitely try and bring him in if the Bengals let Higgins test the market.
