The San Francisco 49ers powered back from a 17-0 deficit to make the game 24-21 in the third quarter, and were able to hold the Falcons in check until the fourth. Atlanta has yet to score since they did just prior to halftime, but their defense has been coming up huge since allowing the Niners to score in the third.

Most notably, when the 49ers were driving down the field and came within inches of taking the lead.

Colin Kaepernick hit Michael Crabtree inside the Falcons 5-yard line and it looked like all Crabtree had to do was extend his arm to cross the goal line. The Falcons had other plans though, as Daunta Robinson ripped the ball out of Crabtree’s hands and put it on the turf Atlanta was able to recover and stop a potential scoring drive dead in it’s tracks.

After a surplus of scoring in the first half, the third and fourth quarters have been relatively quiet on the offensive front. But usually when things get this quiet on offense, it only means something massive is about to happen. Crabtree came within inches of getting the Niners their first lead of the game but it still feels like something big is right around the corner.
