In early November this season, Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Blake suffered an abdominal strain that has sidelined him for the majority of the season. Yesterday evening, Steve Blake decided to beat the reporters to the punch by telling the world that he’d be back on the court by Tuesday, when the Lakers host the New Orleans Hornets…err, Pelicans.

The #RoadtoRecovery was long, but I’m back for the @lakers Tuesday night. #GoLakers

This has got to be great news for Laker Nation, as the team could use depth from nearly every position. Essentially, anything that could potentially send back up point guard Chris Duhon to the oblivion that is Mike D’Antoni’s doghouse is something for fans  to smile at.

Not to mention, Blake’s outside shooting could give them much more consistency from beyond the arc. While he was only available for seven games this season, his 40% clip from downtown was no anomaly.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be meeting up with the Oklahoma City Thunder this afternoon, Blake-less this time. If they can make an incredibly late turnaround, the news of Steve Blake’s return might actually matter. If not, it’s going to be a long summer for one team in Los Angeles.
