This year’s NFL MVP recipient will be unveiled on Saturday night at the Honors Award Ceremony and early exit poll results show that the Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has a significant lead over Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. The early margin is enough for Peterson that he only needs a handful of the remaining votes to lock down the award.

Out of twenty three Associated Press voters that unveiled their vote on Twitter or television, an incredible 17 have voted for Peterson, compared to only six for Manning.

Peterson put together one of the most impressive individual performances of all-time this season when he put together a rushing yards total that fell just nine yards short of Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.

With the current vote total, Peterson needs just nine of the remaining 27 votes to win 2012 NFL MVP.

There is no official word and we cannot confirm that Peterson will win the award, but the exit polls provide us with enough information to project and predict that Peterson will be taking home the hardware this evening.
