The folks at Bellator continue to put on incredible shows for mixed martial arts fans on Thursday nights and this week was no different. During a main card bout, Mike Richman and Mitch Jackson decided to keep the fight standing and exchange punches throughout the first frame. Near the end of the round, Richman landed a brilliant right hook that signaled the beginning of the end for Jackson.

Richman continued to pepper Jackson through the final minute and a half before landing a perfectly executed head-kick that lead to a TKO stoppage with just three-seconds remaining in the first-round.

“I was just setting it up with my nice hands in the first round,” Richman said after the fight. “That was my game plan – stuff a bunch of his takedowns and wear him out. I just want to show everybody that if you get too close to me, I’ll put you to sleep. I think I’ll make exciting fights against anybody.”

Here is a GIF of Richman’s perfectly timed head-kick:

With the win, Richman advances to the semifinals of the Bellator featherweight tournament where he will face Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra next month. Marlon Sandro will meet Magomedrasul Khasbulaev in the second semifinal matchup.
