The Indiana Pacers haven’t been involved in too many trade rumors up to this point but according to the great Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, just because no one is talking about them doesn’t mean they aren’t trying to deal. The Pacers are reportedly trying to trade guard D.J. Augustin in order to avoid luxury tax issues, a ploy that is being tried by not only Indiana.

The Heat have been in need of some help at point guard for the last two years and while Augustin is hardly a lights out starter, he’s better than anything the Miami has trotted out before. Dexter Pittman doesn’t set anyone’s world on fire in a trade scenario but the main incentive in Indiana trading for him is that they’ll alleviate some salary cap issues and not totally get screwed out of a solid player either.

Miami has also been quiet on the trade front up to this point, so hearing their name circulated in a rumors is very interesting. Ever since they acquired the Big 3 a few years ago, the Heat have been virtually non-existent in trade rumors, but they need a guard and need depth at the point so if that means making a trade, the Heat seem to be interested in doing so.

The Pacers aren’t the only team looking to shed salary at the deadline, as numerous teams like the Chicago Bulls are shopping some contracts while asking for very little in return. The Heat have needed some help at point guard for some time now and this might be the best way to patch the hole as they continue their push for another NBA title.
