The Joe Flacco drama has all gone away and Ravens fans can now rest easy tonight knowing the Super Bowl MVP is going to be staying in Baltimore for a very long time. FOX Sports guru Jay Glazer reported late Friday afternoon that Flacco and the Raven have agreed to a long term deal which means that the franchise tag will not have to be used on Flacco.

As Glazer pointed out, the exact details of the deal are not yet known, but the most important detail for Ravens fans is now a certainty: Flacco is a Raven and will stay a Raven. There was some doubt as to whether or not a deal would get done by Monday’s franchise tag deadline, but both sides have been talking and were able to hash out the deal Friday.

While the Ravens still have their franchise tag, money will likely still be an issue unless the Ravens front office was able to work around cap issues with Flacco’s deal. But to Baltimore, there was no greater free agent available other than Flacco and they’ve locked up their man for the foreseeable future.
