SEC Football: Comparing NFL Combine 40-Yard Dash Times to High School Times

Feb 23, 2013; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Texas A

NFL Draft prospects took the field at Lucas Oil Stadium last week at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine in an effort to impress NFL scouts and solidify their rankings in the draft class. SB Nation put together a list of the prospects 40-yard dash times that compare the results from their high school run to their NFL 40.

The most interesting numbers came from the Southeastern Conference, where the top players in the nation come to play.

Out of the 55 SEC players that ran the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis, only 17 were able to cut their times from college. It’s likely a results of adding weight and muscle to their frames.

No, its more likely the difference between hand timed vs digital. The NFL network vs. the offical score was off by as much as .05 on some guys. Non story here.
