While all of the talk surrounding the Miami Dolphins focuses on speedy wide receiver Mike Wallace, the Pittsburgh Steelers free agent is not the only pass catching target that is a top priority for the team heading into the free agent market. According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins have reached out to the agents of tight end free agents and one of the names mentioned is Tennessee Titans free agent Jared Cook.
The Titans made a risky decision when they chose not to place the franchise tag on Cook, but they had hoped to bring him back.
Unfortunately for the Titans, there are rumors circulating that Cook will be in high demand and he could end up signing a contract that will make him the highest paid tight end in league history.
Cook certainly has the talent; he has just not received an honest chance to be a big part of an offense.
In Miami, the team certainly has enough cap room to make a move for both Wallace and Cook. If the front office could pull off the signings of two of the biggest pass catching free agents, it would be a great offseason for the team and one that would set second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill up for success.
With Wallace stretching the field, Brian Hartline on the opposite side and Cook creating mismatches from the tight end or slot position, the Dolphins offense would be very difficult to stop.
