While they were talking about their plans, they were being recorded by the two pranksters that set the entire thing up.

You can read details on how the prank happened and listen to the full audio from the phone call on Deadspin.

One of the most interesting moments in the call came when Nix was talking about Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Nix said that the team is handcuffed by Fitzpatrick and his base salary of $4.25 million in 2013. He is also set to earn a $3 million roster bonus on Wednesday.

We’re still struggling here with our quarterback. He’s going to have to do something, or we’ll have to,” Nix told Dominik during the phone call.

“We just can’t afford to pay that kind of money for a guy who’s fighting for probably a backup job.”

Ouch. That’s not exactly a glowing endorsement from your team’s GM.

Nix made it clear that the team is looking for a quarterback and they will explore all avenues to find someone that they hope will take the team to the next level.

Here is audio of Nix and Dominik’s exchange about Fitzpatrick:

It was fascinating to hear the two general managers talking and gave everyone a little insight on what happens just before key dates on the league calendar. Teams call around to touch base and gauge the interests of other teams that may not be out in the media.

While we enjoyed the prank and the results, the two pranksters could get in some serious trouble over their little endeavor.

To us, the prank was some innocent fun, to Nix, Dominik and authorities, it is invasion of privacy.
