Buffalo Bills Respond To Deadspin Leak of Recorded Phone Conversation With Buddy Nix

Deadspin published a story on Tuesday morning that included audio from a phone conversation between Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix and Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik. The phone call included discussions about the team’s free agents, potential trades, frustration with the league rules and more.

Nix even dropped the news that he views Ryan Fitzpatrick a back up and that the Bills are “handcuffed” by Fitzpatrick’s contract.

Now, the Buffalo Bills have responded with a statement:

“We are aware of the report on Deadspin involving a phone conversation with Bills GM Buddy Nix. We have made the league aware of the report and are reviewing it with legal counsel.”

This could be bad news for the pranksters that started the entire conversation between Nix and Dominik. The pair could certainly face legal troubles, but that may not compare to the public embarrassment that the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers organizations are facing.

We wonder how long it will be before the Buccaneers decide to follow the Bills lead and release a statement of their own.

Well, it was stupid of both organizations, but I think that the Bills have a legal case against these jerks – stuff like this has happened before, and people like this need an example made of them, so that it’s not tried in the future. A couple of other points; the Bills, along with filling holes on the roster, now should get a new switchboard operator/receptionist, along with a new phone system – preferably one that has a Caller ID feature.

And finally, when you get right down to it, Nix didn’t reveal anything anybody with half a brain couldn’t figure out on his own. I mean, this isn’t the identity of the new Pope we’re talking about, here …. you’d be hard-pressed to find any team outside of the Jets who would give a contract the size of Fitz’s to a QB who hasn’t quite proven his worth yet. So, the Bills may be a little embarrassed – and Nix ought to go to Fitz right now and have a heart-to-heart about the whole situation – but, really, the only damage was the legal mess caused by these dummies who started it in the first place. And, for that, they and their employers should pay DEARLY.

I suggest season tickets to the Jets.
