The 2013 free agent class has a newcomer to the field of safeties. As the Baltimore Ravens continue to lose players from their magical Super Bowl run, the latest casualty is safety Bernard Pollard who has been released Wednesday morning.

Pollard announced the news himself on Twitter, with a goodbye to the Raven’s fans:

Pollard, the New England Patriots killer, will now test the open market.

It would be interesting to see if the Patriots would be willing to sign Pollard to prevent him from injury another one of their players. If not, one of the potential suitors could be the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers. Pollard would be the latest Super Bowl champion to bolt to the runner-up.

There will certainly be a market for Pollard, who has a lot left to give.

Ravens fans have to be worried about the strategy their team is using this offseason which seems to be, “say goodbye to last year’s defensive starters.”
