The New England Patriots are in the center of a drama-filled saga with their slot receiver Wes Welker, who was unhappy with the team’s contract negotiations. As a result, Welker tested the open market and he know has a multi-year deal on the table from the Denver Broncos and he could be heading to Denver. On the other side, the St. Louis Rams have a slot receiver controversy of their own.
Danny Amendola is testing the open market and is looking for a new home. There are a number of teams that have been linked to Amendola, but a dry market at his position could be sending him back to St. Louis.
Pro Football Talk passed along the news that the market for slot receivers is not what the players had hoped it would be:
Source with knowledge of market says slot receivers are “getting screwed,” and that there’s now a chance Danny Amendola returns to Rams.

This news could be especially disappointing for the New England Patriots, who may want to target Amendola if Welker plans to take the Denver Broncos up on their multi-year deal.
