It was a set of unfortunate circumstances that led to Elvis Dumervil and the Denver Broncos parting ways. The mishap actually comes down to miscommunication between the Broncos, Dumervil and his agent and a simple fax machine. Both sides had different stories on how the situation went down, but we may never know the exact truth.
What we do know is that Dumervil is a free agent and could have cost himself some money because of a lack of communication between himself and his agent, who blamed the Broncos for the entire mess.
Now, in a move that surprises absolutely no one, Dumervil and his agent are parting ways. Shocking, I know, but there is reportedly no animosity between the two sides.
“I’m told there’s no animosity between Elvis Dumervil and his agent,” Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun tweeted on Saturday afternoon. “Just a bad situation that unfolded, obviously, and now Elvis moves on.”
It would have been a home run if Wilson would have closed with, “Elvis has left the building,” but we will have to roll with what he said.
Dumervil now begins his search for a new home and it looks like that won’t be an issue. Not only are the Baltimore Ravens interested in signing the free agent pass rusher, but a number of unnamed teams are also reportedly interested. There should be a competitive market out there for Dumervil and it should result in a nice pay day for the 29-year-old.
This may not be the last we hear about drama between Dumervil and his agent. It wouldn’t be out of the question for a lawsuit to be on the way.
