The Pennsylvania Turnpike is the sight of a tragic crash on Saturday as a tour bus carrying a women’s Lacrosse team crashed into a tree, killing 30-year old Seton Hill head coach Kristina Quigley, who was reportedly six months pregnant with her child. According to CNN and the Associated Press, the tour bus crashed into a tree on the turnpike and also killed driver Anthony Guaetta who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Quigley was flown to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead and doctors revealed that they were unable to save her unborn child’s life. Two other victims were airlifted to the hospital as well, but the conditions of the victims are not yet known at this time. According to reports, the bus company Mlaker Charter & Tours, of Davidsville sent out investigators to the scene of the crash to determine what caused the crash, but no official word has yet been released.

Jennifer Kocher, a spokeswoman for the state Public Utility Commission, regulates safety for bus companies and said that she couldn’t find any prior incidents that would have raised a red flag when it came to the safety of the bus the team was traveling in.

The Seton Hall girls lacrosse team was set to play a game on Saturday at Millersville University, which is roughly 50 miles from the crash site, but that game has obviously been cancelled due to the tragic circumstances. While two people were killed in the crash, it’s a miracle that the casualty number is that low, judging from photos of the crash. The side of the bus is almost completely torn off and the front end is smashed beyond recognition.

Counseling will be available to students at Seton Hill and the school announced that an administrator is en route to the crash scene to help put the victims and families as best as possible during this heartbreaking tragedy.
