The Los Angeles Lakers made a questionable move when they allowed star guard Kobe Bryant play last week despite being diagnosed with a sprained ankle. Bryant was clearly ineffective during the game and could have put himself at further risk by trying to tough it out. That was the perfect opportunity for the team to step in and protect the player from his ego, but they chose not to.

Now, it looks like Kobe will be resting in the team’s next game today against the Sacramento Kings.

Bryant is officially listed as doubtful.

While the team expected Bryant’s absence, another starter, Pau Gasol, could be joining the Black Mamba on the sidelines because of foot soreness. Gasol was expected to return to action, but he suffered a setback with his foot and could miss today’s game.

Per Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times:

"Pau Gasol experienced soreness in his right foot while playing a two-on-two game at the team’s training facility Saturday. He will see foot specialist Kenneth Jung on Sunday. The cause and extent of the soreness were unclear."

It keeps getting worse for the Lakers.

While they continue to dig themselves out of the hole that they dug to start the season, it seems like the team keeps shooting themselves in the, pardon me, foot.

The team needs to air on the side of caution and allow their starters to work back to 100 percent before going on one final run to work their way into the postseason.
