Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is a very rich man after getting his new deal that will pay him $17 million a year. The deal has been criticized because the lack of achievements the Cowboys have accomplished with Romo at the helm, and now one of Romo’s teammates is saying that it’s time to live up to the money and take this team to the next level.

Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware was speaking on Sirius XM NFL Radio when he said it’s time for Romo to “put up or shut up.”

“I feel like everybody is deserving to whatever is given to him, but at the end of the day, to me it’s put up or shut up,” Ware said, via the Dallas Morning News.

“I’m just being straight-up honest with you. Get out there and be productive, and that’s with any player. Whatever they get, they’re deserving of it. You just got to get out there and play and I know he can be and will be the quarterback that is going to be the quarterback that is going to take us to the next level.”

Romo can start by leading the team to the playoffs and then getting a few wins under his belt.

If the quarterback can’t improve on the field and take this team to the next level, then Jerry Jones’ big money investment won’t look like cash well spent.
