We passed along the news that former Florida State signal-caller EJ Manuel is one of the hottest rising quarterbacks in the 2013 NFL Draft class, and now we are hearing just how much current coaches think of him.

Manuel was meeting with the Cleveland Browns and head coach Rob Chudzinski on Saturday, when Chudzinski gave Manuel a favorable comparison towards a former quarterback he used to coach.

Who was the quarterback that Manuel reminded Chudzinski of? None other than Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton.

“He already brought up Cam when I was up in Cleveland on Monday,” Manuel said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I think coach Chudzinski sees a lot of Cam Newton in me, so that’s kind of in my favor as far as being a guy that’s very similar to Cam’s playing style.”

The Browns would be an interesting fit for Manuel if he were to slide in the second round.

Of course, the Browns could trade up in to the bottom of round one to select the former Seminole.

There is a lot of buzz building around Manuel and the growing belief is that he will be the second quarterback off the board. If there are multiple coaches around the league that see some Cam Newton in Manuel’s game, then there is no reason to believe he won’t be selected in the top twenty picks.
