New York Giants co-owner John Mara remains even-keel and confident that the team and star wide receiver Victor Cruz will reach a deal in time. Mara didn’t have much to say on the topic, but he did say this.

"“It will get done at some point. Just be patient.”"

Eli Manning has been the biggest supporter of Cruz, who has become his favorite target along with Hakeem Nicks. Eli had this to say about a potential deal-in-the-making.

"“I have a feeling I will see Victor here when the contract is done. That is my gut feeling. I could be wrong. If he is back earlier, then that will be a bonus.”"

With no deal done, Cruz opted not to attend the Giants’ voluntary off-season workout program for strength and conditioning. General manager Jerry Reese understood the situation.

"“He is a free agent and doesn’t have a contract, so he is not here,” Reese said. “That is pretty cut and dry.”"

Everyone in the organization seem optimistic a deal will be done. Until it is done though, there does remain the littlest of doubts. Reese, for instance, refuses to assume the Pro-Bowl receiver will be back in blue.

"“I don’t assume anything,” Reese said. “We will see. I can tell you this, when we get ready to play, when the season starts, we will have good players out there. I am not sure if Victor will be there or not, but I don’t assume anything.”– General Manager Jerry Reese on Cruz’s Contract Situation"
