It comes as no surprise that the Buffalo Bills have a strong interest in former Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib. From the day the Bills hired Nassib’s collegiate coach, Doug Marrone, to be the man in charge, the speculation was mounting that the Bills would have their eyes on the former Orange signal-caller.

The real question is: Just how high are the Bills ready to pull the trigger on Nassib?

According to the latest report from ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, the Bills are worried that if they don’t select Nassib with the No. 8 overall pick that the New York Jets could make him their selection later in the first round. Paolantonio says that both teams are incredibly high on Nassib, and that knowledge could force Buffalo to use their first pick.

“I know one thing for sure in talking to people around the league,” Paolantonio said, via Rotoworld. “The Buffalo Bills want Ryan Nassib. But they’re very concerned the Jets will take him later in the first round. So the Bills may be forced to take him at No. 8.”

A lot of people may have a problem with the Bills taking Nassib at No. 8, but I am a firm believer in taking the quarterback you really believe in, regardless of draft position.

It is hard to win in this league without a top-notch quarterback and no one knows Nassib better than Marrone. If he truly believes that his former college quarterback has what it takes to make it in the big leagues. then he has to be the pick. Even if the draft board suggests his stock isn’t that of a top ten pick.
