The Jacksonville Jaguars signed undrafted free agent quarterback Jordan Rodgers after he decided it would be a much better fit than the Detroit Lions. For starters, Rodgers would have a much greater shot to make the roster in Jacksonville and he could eventually push the team’s lackluster quarterback depth for playing time.

While Rodgers doesn’t come in to the league with the hype that his brother had, the younger brother of the Packers star signal-caller has a major chip on his shoulder and will carry that with him as he fights for a chance in the league.

“We were focused on those two teams because of the personnel at the position, but (the Jaguars) were the best opportunity,” Jordan said, via FOXSportsWisconsin’s Paul Imig. “They provide one of the better opportunities you can ask for as a free-agent quarterback. There’s only two on the roster (Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne), and most teams have three or maybe four. It just leaves a lot of opportunity for guys like me to get my foot in the door.”

Rodgers blood lines certainly won’t hurt him during the process, but he will still need to earn his spot on the Jaguars roster.

One thing is for sure: You shouldn’t count out Rodgers with his determination and the hard work that is willing to put in. With the Jaguars having no true star at the quarterback position, Rodgers is set up perfectly for a shot at his dream.
