In a report that will surprise exactly zero people, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has made the decision to sit out the entire year and he has no plans of returning for the postseason. Everyone saw this coming when Rose continued to sit out after being medically cleared, but doctor clearance and the ability to dunk off of your previously torn ACL be damned, Rose doesn’t want to play.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Rose made the decision a while ago, but he won’t publicly say he’s done for the year.

Wojnarowski wrote:

"“Who knows?” Rose told reporters hours on Saturday. “It’s still up in the air.”Who knows? Derrick Rose knows. His choice has been made to sit out the season and it includes no provisions for turning back, sources with direct knowledge told Yahoo! Sports."

At this point, it is the only decision that Rose could make. He would only be hurting his team if he decided to return now. The NBA Playoffs are a different animal and the play is much faster and more physical, so if Rose wanted to return for the postseason run he should have eased himself back in to the lineup when he was cleared by medical professionals.

Chicago has been plagued by injuries all season long, but that have continued to put on gritty and inspiring performances. The team has shown a real toughness and if Rose doesn’t want to be a part of it, so be it.

Now we all just have to wonder if Rose will decide to play by 2014.
