While both Eastern Conference teeter on the brink of becoming seven games series’, the Red Wings and Ducks are currently teetering on the brink of elimination. After six games failed to decide the series, both Anaheim and Detroit are heading to a decisive Game 7 with the winner moving on and the loser getting their Stanley Cup dreams dashed.

For the Ducks, a win would mean a showdown with the San Jose Sharks in a battle for California hockey dominance. A win for the Red Wings would not only mean a trip to Chicago to play the Blackhawks but it would continue the team’s trend of being successful in the NHL Playoffs.

The series can still go either way as Jonas Hiller has yet to prove reliable between the pipes and the Red Wings defense isn’t any more impressive. Each team has it’s strengths that can propel it’s season into the next round but both also have weaknesses that can cripple their championship aspirations.
