Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz gave one of the greatest pre-game speeches ever before the team’s game on April 20th against the Kansas City Royals after the bombings that took place during the Boston Marathon. Ortiz spoke from the heart and pumped up the crowd with his speech. The most memorable line from his speech came when he said to the crowd, “This is our f—ing city! Nobody is going to dictate our freedom.”

The crowd erupted with cheers and their spirits were immediately lifted from Big Papi’s words.

Now, Ortiz is looking to help the Boston victims in another way.

He will be selling “This is our f—-ing city!” bats on his website to help raise money for the victims and the One Fund.

People wanting a bat can donate $125 for a customized Marucci bat or $500 for one of the customized bats that is signed by Ortiz himself. The bat features the “Boston Strong” mantra, along with  the words “Never Forget” and the date of the attack — 4/15/13.

Donators can then choose whether to have the phrase “This is our f-ing city” or “Nobody dictates our freedom” on the bat. 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the One Fund.

It is a great gesture from Big Papi and is another example of why he is so beloved in the city of Boston.
