Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley is doing his best to hype up his team heading in to the 2013 NFL season. Fairley previous predicted that the Lions would be making a trip to the Super Bowl this year and now he is claiming that he and Ndamukong Suh are the league’s best defensive tackle duo. The latter statement is much more reasonable than the former.

We’re going to give guys trouble, man,” Fairley said, according to the Detroit Lions official website. “It’s like pick your poison this year with our defensive line. You cannot come in and double-team Ndamukong and you can’t come in and double-team me.”

Not only do the Lions have Fairley and Suh, they spent a first-round selection in this year’s draft on defensive end Ezekiel Ansah. You put him in the defensive end rotation with Jason Jones and Willie Young and the Lions definitely are a scary front.

“You won’t be able to double-team Ziggy [Ansah] or Jason Jones or Willie [Young]. You have to pick who you’re going to bring your back to chip. We’re going to feed off each other, and when we get that chemistry down, it’s going to look real good for us,” Fairley said.

If the Lions can live up to the preseason hype that Fairley is giving them, they could prove to be one of the league’s surprise teams in 2013. Of course, Fairley wouldn’t be surprised with the success.
