New York Jets’ Mike Goodson Arrested on Drugs and Weapons Offense
By Josh Hill
New York Jets running back Mike Goodson, who was picked up in free agency this offseason, was arrested Friday in New Jersey after allegedly being the passenger in a car containing drugs, weapons and ammunition. News 12 New Jersey broke the news but it was followed up on and confirmed by USA Today’s Mike Garafolo that Goodson was indeed the passenger and involved in this situation.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Goodson was “charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphanalia, unlawful possession of loaded gun.”
The New York Jets made a move this offseason to try and replace the production on the field left by the exiting Shonn Greene, who signed with Tennessee Titans this offseason. Goodson was signed by the Jets on March 15th and were the third team in his career to ink him o a deal. Goodson started his career with the Panthers and moved on to the Oakland Raiders for a single season before now landing in New York.
News 12 New Jersey’s initial report indicated that Goodson was also found intoxicated in the SUV that was pulled over by police. That has yet to be confirmed but if it’s indeed true — and even if it’s not and Goodson was sober — this is a messy situation that will need to be monitored as the fallout is potentially fatal to not only Goodson’s football career but his freedom as a law abiding citizen.
