Minnesota Vikings’ Jared Allen Doesn’t Know Where He Will Play in 2014
By Josh Sanchez
The Minnesota Vikings used to be known for their star-studded defensive line, but know they are known more for their uncertainty at the position than the talent. One of their best players, Jared Allen, is unsure of where he will play after this season. Allen’s contract will expire after 2013 and he says the Vikings have yet to open contract negotiations.
Because of that, he has no idea where his future will take him, and that seems to be weighing heavily on his mind.
“I pray about it,” Allen said, via the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “I talk to my wife. And we’ll end up going where the good Lord takes us. But I don’t know where that path is headed. Best-case scenario would have been that we would have never gotten to this point. Best-case scenario would have been the organization would have gotten something done [on an extension] a few years back.”
Defensive ends Brian Robison and Everson Griffen are also entering the final years of their deal, so Minnesota has a lot of negotiating to do.
For Allen, you have to worry that his looking forward to 2014 could take away from the focus of this season. Allen needs to have all of his attention on doing what he can do to help the Vikings this season rather than worrying about something in the future that he can’t control.
