Now that we know the Sacramento Kings new ownership group will be keeping the franchise in Sacramento, the team can turn their attention to finding a new head coach. One of the names who is at the top of the Kings wishlist is Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone, who is one of the top assistants in the league. The Kings primary owner reportedly is very found of Malone and wants him to come in and run the show.

Per Ric Bucher of CSNBayArea.com:

"Warriors owner Joe Lacob used what he learned as a Celtics’ minority partner to shape his new team. Vivek Ranadive, former Warriors minority owner and now presumptive Kings primary owner, apparently is doing the same, beginning with putting Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone on his list of candidates to be the Kings’ next head coach, a source said."

Malone will be at the top of the list for a number of NBA teams, so Sacramento will not be his only option.

One team that is expected to be interested is the Los Angeles Clippers, because Chris Paul has a relationship with Malone from their time together in New Orleans.

It will be interesting to see where Malone lands next season, but it seems certain that he will have a new gig.
