Some breaking news coming across the wire this evening as John Buccigross is reporting that Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and others are preparing to be suspended by Major League Baseball.

Per Buccigross:

"Outside the Lines has learned that MLB is preparing to suspend Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun and others connected to Biogenesis clinic in Miam"

As you’ll recall, Braun, A-Rod and a handful of other players were named in the Biogenesis connection earlier this year and Braun, who was suspended in 2011 for a separate performance enhancing drug incident had his suspension overturned – the first time in Major League history a drug suspension was overturned.

However, it appears that more documents have been uncovered in the most recent Biogenesis case, leading to evidence which apparently was enough for Major League Baseball to throw the hammer down.

Other players who found their names on the original Biogenesis documents (though no word if they will be suspended as well) include Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera, Texas Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz, Oakland Athletics starter Bartolo Colon, San Diego Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal, Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez and more.

Update:

Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez will reportedly not be suspended as he only purchased “legal” products from Biogenesis.

Update two:

Suspensions could be over 100 games and are expected to be handed out within two weeks, though, many (if not all) players are expected to appeal.
