Major League Baseball umpires have been under a lot of scrutiny this season for blown calls all over the field. From the infamous non-home run in Oakland to the double play that really wasn’t a double play, umpires are being watched and criticized more than ever — but that didn’t stop home plate umpire Tony Randazzo from tossing Cleveland Indians infielder Mike Aviles from the game after it has already ended.

SI.com’s Jimmy Traina swallowed his hatred for Vine and captured the incident on video:

We all love to see ejections but they usually happen in the middle of games, not after they’re already over. Manager Terry Francona sided with his infielder after the game to say that he felt Randazzo was wrong for ejecting him after the game had finished.

“We’re down one, facing the best closer in the history of the game,” said Francona, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “He doesn’t need any help. You can get emotional sometimes and I just thought at that point Tony should have kept walking or either apologized to Mike, but everybody makes mistakes …”

It appeared watching the game that Aviles checked his swing on the first pitch from New York Yankees reliever Mariano Rivera, but home plate umpire Tony Randazzo didn’t agree and said that the ball hit Aviles bat. That seems to be the source of the frustration aimed at Randazzo after the game but no matter what happened, we learned that if you mess with the wrong umpire, you get tossed — no matter at what juncture game is at.
