It’s not been a good year for Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent. After being charged with intoxication manslaughter, ESPN’s Adam Schefter passes along word that Brent had tested positive for marijuana while awaiting trial.

NFL.com supported Schefter’s report by stating prosecutors have requested that Brent’s $100,000 bond be revoked. There has been much said about Brent and what happened that fateful day when he crashed his car and killed his friend and teammate Jerry Brown. But while people have turned their backs on Brent, Brown’s mother has remained on his side which has prompted the Cowboys to keep him on roster.

While Brown’s mother has stood behind Brent, NFL.com passes along word from Clarence Hill of the Fort-Worth Star Telegram that there is no expectation that Brent will ever play another down for the Cowboys and he’s being kept on roster “in name only”.

After this latest news that Brent has tested positive, thus breaking yet another NFL rule, it’s unlikely that Brown’s mother will be able to keep Brent on roster and it’s doubtful he’ll be playing football anytime soon.
