NBA Trade Rumors: Washington Wizards Trading For Ersan Ilyasova?

The NBA trade rumor mill is slowly heating up, and the latest rumor out there is that the Milwaukee Bucks are interested in sending Ersan Ilyasova to the Washington Wizards.

This rumor, while interesting, doesn’t really make that much sense. First of all, the Wizards will not have enough cap space to simply absorb Ilyasova’s contract for the no. 3 pick straight up. For the deal to be feasible, Washington would probably need to send Trevor Ariza (assuming he opts into the final year of his contract) in a package together with the pick.

While Ilyasova finished the year relatively well, many believe that he didn’t quite meet the expectations set on him when he signed his multi-year contract with the Bucks. He could potentially be an interesting fit on offense next to John Wall and Bradley Beal, as he can be part of small linups and act as a stretch-4, while also being able to play at the small forward position.

Offensively, Ilyasova with the Wizards would be quite intriguing, but giving up Ariza and the precious commodity that is the third overall pick in this year’s draft seems too big of a price to pay. Besides, the Wizards still hope that Otto Porter will be available when the team is on the clock, and many expect the prospect to be a great fit to the young core of the Wizards.

I understand they want to get better and might be tired of picking at the top, but I don’t see how this is a good trade for the Wizards.

Yep, I agree. Just drafting Porter, or perhaps trading for someone else, would most likely be enough to take them to the playoffs next year. It would also give Washington A LOT more flexibility for future years, as POTENTIALLY having Otto on a rookie contract is a whole lot better than the massive deal Ilyasova is on.

Good trade for both teams Milwaukee can draft either Ben or Otto and then ersan is good fit for wizards but we can get Ben if wizards send bucks ariza if they keep 15 pick they can get Dennis,Shane Larkin,

This would be a bad move for the Wizards. As bad as the one they made that year for Randy Foye and Mike Miller. This dude is average and you dont give up the No. 3 pick for a guy that is not the piece thats going to take you over the top. Especially when the players you have opportunity to get are or can be just as good. Grunfield has this thing for these international guys. Thinking all of them are going to be the next Nowinski. This guy is a 12 point, 6 rebound guy and thats not going to be consistent and most definitely not worth that 8 million dollars a year hes due over the next 4 to 5 years. In saying this im not saying he is terrible player but he is a player that you get because you just need that last piece on a good team, not to add to a team that is below average with the players they already have and tie up money that apparently team hes with is already regretting.

This has to be a joke. What a terrible trade that would be for the wizards. To be honest if it occurs im done watching this franchise hit rock bottom which I thought already occured when Ernie got a extension. A 26 year old who is making 50 million and is average at best for a top 3 pick this would ony be rumored with a team that curently has one of the worse GM’s in the NBA (WSH) Ernie Grunfield. Draft Otto and have Wall,Beal,Otto as your core. Let okafor and ariza walk at the end of the season and make a run at Cousins. Line up Wall,Beal,Otto,Nene,Cousins with all of Ernies terrrible picks as backups. Then let Nene Walk as well when his contract is up or get him on a veterans minmum casue if that was are team there would be a lot of veterans coming to Dc like they do down in South Beach.
