Chicago Bears Trade Gabe Carimi to Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By Josh Sanchez
The Gabe Carimi – Chicago Bears saga has been ongoing throughout OTAs and minicamps, but it seemed like a resolution was made with reports surfacing that Carimi would attend Bears OTAs next week. However, something must have changed over the weekend with news that the Bears have traded the former first-round pick from just two years ago. It’s not an ideal move, but it’s something that the team felt best in.
From NFL Around the League:
There is no official word on the compensation that the Bears will receive, but we do know that it will not be a conditional pick.
Chicago must have felt comfortable enough to deal the former first-round for what the Buccaneers offered, because it was just earlier this offseason that the team seemed dedicated to allowing Carimi to stick at guard.
The trade is a win-win for both sides.
Chicago gets enough compensation to part ways with their former top pick, while the Buccaneers get a player with a ton of upside that was looking for a fresh start.
