The Detroit Lions players haven’t been shy about expressing their belief that they will make the Super Bowl this season, but now they have a supporter from another NFC team. St. Louis Rams defensive back Cortland Finnegan said that the Lions will make the Super Bowl. Well, that is only if Finnegan and his Rams don’t beat them out to get there.

If we don’t win it, I’ll take the Lions winning it next,” Finnegan said, according to the Detroit Free Press.

No one in their right mind can really believe that the Rams or Lions will make the Super Bowl, but Finnegan is a unique character. Besides, who can fault his logic when he pulls out the “they have Megatron and he is a bad dude” card?

“You don’t have the name Megatron for any other reason other than you’re a bad man,” Finnegan said, explaining why he thinks the Lions can turn it around after a 4-12 season. “So that’s where it’s at. They had a lot of good things going for them. Slot receivers, (Matthew) Stafford is amazing. They picked up some good stuff this year. So (Jim) Schwartz, he’s always going to put together a good team.”

Other than Megatron’s cool nickname, Finnegan probably feels some loyalty to the Lions head coach, Jim Schwartz, because he was the defensive coordinator in Tennessee when Finnegan was a Titan.

Regardless of his reasoning, Finnegan has an outside the box Super Bowl prediction and he will be able to say “I told you so” if either of the long shots makes it to the big game.
