Well, we can certainly call Greg Hardy ambitious. The Carolina Panthers defensive end is coming off of a year where he was able to record 11 sacks, which is nothing to scoff at, but his goal for the 2013-14 NFL season would blow away the all-time league record and go down as one of the greatest single-season performances in any sports history. Of course, it is very unlikely to happen.

Hardy was asked by ESPN how many sacks he thought he could record this coming season and his response was 50. Yes. Five-O.

“Fifty,” Hardy said. “Why shoot low, right? If I’m going to shoot at it, I’m going to shoot at it with a 50 caliber. I’m going to shoot at a little bird with a 50-caliber bullet. That’s the goal for this year, 50 sacks, that’s where I’m at. That’s the goal, 50. You heard it first.”

We always tell the kids to shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you will land among the stars. For Hardy, the stars are more in the 10-15 sack range.
