The New Orleans Saints brough in linebacker Victor Butler this offseason in hopes that he could blossom into a starter and a star in their defense. Butler has been hungry for his chance since being buried behind DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer on the depth chart in Dallas, but unfortunately his shot at being the main man will have to wait.

Butler was injured during OTAs on Tuesday, and the worst case scenario is what took place.

From Larry Holder of NOLA.com:

It was just yesterday that Saints head coach Sean Payton said that he thought Butler would “be just fine”, but that obviously isn’t the case.

You really have to feel for Butler. He was ready to take advantage of a starting role and he was finally given the opportunity to show the rest of the league why he is one of the most underrated pass rushers in the sport.

Hopefully he can make a full recovery and come on stronger than ever next season.
