The Philadelphia Eagles and fourth round draft pick Matt Barkley become the latest team and rookie to agree to a deal today after reaching an agreement on a four year deal. Barkley fell much further than he would have if he entered the draft last season, but the humbling experience ended up landing him in a great position.

While Barkley may not have the arm strength that blows you away, he is incredibly accurate and that is exactly what Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is looking for in his offense.

The Eagles are moving forward this offseason with a wide open quarterback competition, and Barkley has just as good of a shot as anyone to emerge as the team’s starting signal-caller. All accounts have stated that Barkley has been impressive during the team’s OTAs and minicamps, so it will be interesting to see how he answers the call when training camp and pre-season roll around.

If Barkley continues to impress, he could take the job right out of Michael Vick’s hands.
