When the Chicago Bears fired former head coach Lovie Smith after last season, veteran return man and likely Hall of Famer Devin Hester sounded as if he wanted to leave the Bears and continue his career elsewhere. If he still harbors that feeling, it may be a wish that gets granted by the Bears as it’s sounding like they may be getting ready to cut him loose.

Per a report from CSN Chicago:

"Devin Hester may be voted into the Hall of Fame someday as arguably the most dominant returner in NFL history. But right now he is working to hold onto that job with a new Bears coaching staff."

The main sticking point with Hester, at least according to the report, is his $1.85 million salary that a cash strapped Bears team would love to have back. It doesn’t seem like much but any cap relief helps and Hester needs to live up the the price tag and prove his worth if he wants to remain in Chicago.

After looking like he wanted to get out of town, it looks as if Hester indeed wants to stay but he might end up getting cut loose anyways and at age 31, he might find it a little hard to get a job  as a veteran in the NFL. Just ask fellow Bears legend Brian Urlacher where that search ended up for him.
