It was a chance for the Chicago Blackhawks to take a near-stranglehold on their Stanley Cup Finals series against the Boston Bruins.

Chicago outshot Boston 19-4 in the first period, but was only able to muster up a single goal (Patrick Sharp) on Bruins goaltender Tuuka Rask. Then the Bruins found new life.

Backed by the incredible play of Rask, the Bruins made the most of the opportunities they were given. And it ended up being two of the most unlikely producers who made the Blackhawks pay.

Chris Kelly scored his first of the playoffs to tie the game at one with 5:02 remaining in the second period; Daniel Paille, who assisted on Kelly’s goal, then scored his third of the postseason at the 13:48 mark of the first overtime to give Boston the 2-1 win, and even the series at one.

Now, Boston has taken away home ice advantage from the Blackhawks when it could have easily found itself down 2-0, and scrambling for answers with the series on its way to Boston for game three Monday night.

With the series tied at one, it now becomes a battle of endurance in what is now a best of five series.

The teams have played over nine periods in the first two games. But unlike after game one which went into triple-ot, there was only one day in between games two and three. And that day off involved travel to Boston.

One has to wonder just how much, if at all, stamina becomes a factor after a day of travel. Will the goaltenders, who have been absolutely stellar through the first two games, finally feel the effects of playing three periods worth of games in four days? Or will the adrenaline flowing keep the fatigue from affecting them.

We will find out later tonight when the puck drops on game three.
