The obvious end to the Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Clippers trade talks happened and there appears to no longer be any chance that Doc Rivers is headed to the Clippers to assume head coaching duties. But just because he’s not heading to Los Angeles does not mean he’s coming back to Boston as there is still a giant question mark surrounded by a lot of uncertainty when it comes to the question will Doc Rivers return to Boston?

Danny Ainge’s promise from last month seems about as reliable and useful as a weather report on Mars and Rivers future with the Celtics is still up in the air and seems like it will be for a while.

Per Yahoo! Sports guru Adrian Wojnarowski:

"After talks in a blockbuster deal fall apart over draft pick compensation, Doc Rivers is unsure about returning to the Boston Celtics as coach, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday."

This isn’t totally surprising as even before basketball fans everywhere got weak in the knees over the rumor Rivers was headed to Los Angeles, he was displaying doubt about returning to the Celtics anyways. The fact that trade talks with the Clippers have fallen apart and Boston seemed very ready to replace Rovers with Lawrence Frank, Rivers might feel even more comfortable stepping away for a year to relax and enjoy life a little before coming back to coaching.
