And just like that, the trade that has taken the NBA and their fans by storm for over a week dies.

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers did agree on two deals earlier this week, one that would have sent Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles in exchange for DeAndre Jordan. In the second deal, some form of compensation would have been sent to Boston in exchange for Doc Rivers for essentially being let go of his contractual obligations in Boston so he could sign with LA.

Only problem? The NBA informed both teams that one trade can not correlate with another as these two deals were doing and they were told the moves would not be accepted.

Back to the drawing board the two teams went but the Clippers then refused to give the Celtics any compensation, most likely believing that it was only a matter of time until the Celtics decided to re-build and they’d let Rivers walk. Not the case, says Yahoo Sports as Rivers and the Celtics have decided to move on from the Clippers.

Per Wojo:

"After talks failed again on Friday, Doc Rivers will no longer pursue the Clippers coaching job, league source tells Y!"

Looks like we finally have our end.
