When Oklahoma City Thunder fan Charlie Bright decided he wanted to proposed to his girlfriend Rachel Haycraft, he wanted to do it in a memorable way.
Sure, the more traditional route might have been with flowers or a candlelight dinner, but for Bright, who’s first date with Haycraft was to an OKC Thunder basketball game (both are season ticket holders) – he wanted it to be unique and special in a different way. How could he go about that? By incorporating none other than Thunder star, Russell Westbrook.
Bright contacted the former UCLA guard and he was immediately down to help, which resulted in Westbrook posting the proposal tweet to the self acclaimed “twitterholic”.
Per Royce Young of DailyThunder.com:
"They exchanged some messages about what the tweet should say, they compared a few notes and they figured out a time to send it out when Charlie would have Rachel positioned (which ended up being under the clocktower near the north side of OU’s stadium).“I asked her to look at her Twitter and she looked at it and saw it and looked like she was about to cry, so I got down on one knee and asked her if she’d marry me,” he said. “And she said yes.”"
