NBA Trade Rumors — The Boston Celtics tried to trade Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to the Los Angeles Clippers, but it looks like that deal is dead. However, Paul Pierce is still gathering interest around the league.

One team that seems interested in Pierce’s services is the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to News-Herald:

"The Cavs have likely spoken to the Celtics about small forward Paul Pierce’s availability. The latest rumor is the Cavs offering their two second-round picks for the 35-year-old Pierce. Pierce’s $15.3 million contract for next year would become guaranteed if he’s dealt."

The Cavaliers are also rumored to be in talks with the Dallas Mavericks, who want to unload Shawn Marion’s contract and would throw in a pick to go with it.

Pierce definitely seems like the better option for the Cavaliers, who are in desperate need of a competent small forward.

However, the Cavaliers are likely not the only team that is interested in Pierce, as he has market value to teams that want to make a playoff push next season. Either way, the Celtics need to make a decision on whether they want to deal Pierce, keep him around or buy out his contract in the coming week.
