Although Baltimore Ravens starting running back Ray Rice had his lowest carry total since 2009 last season, it seems a bit odd to suggest he’d split carries with anybody – but that’s just what the Baltimore Ravens’ website is suggesting, or at least close to it.

Rice, who carried 257 times compared to rookie Bernard Pierce, who carried 108, is expected to have his work load reduced this year and a strong showing from Pierce this Summer may even out the distribution of carries.

Per the Baltimore Ravens website:

"While Rice has been firmly entrenched at the top of the depth chart the last few seasons, he’ll get pushed by Pierce this season. The two backs have different styles, so rotating them in and out of games will allow them both to stay fresh and also mix up the looks for the defenses. Rice had 257 carries to Pierce’s 108 last year, but a strong showing from Pierce could balance out that distribution a little more."

Obviously, there’s no exact number as to what the Ravens are suggesting for Pierce but it might be best for the Ravens to keep their star in Rice healthy as can be, though, fantasy players across the globe are weeping a little harder this morning.
