Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb is not sure when he will be back after being placed on a seven-day concussion disabled list, but he does know he will return at some point during the season.

Cobb was hit in the head with a line drive on June 15 and has since had fluid buildup in his ears. It’s not clear when Cobb will make a return to the Rays, but he wants everyone to know that rumors of his missing the rest of the year are false (via Joe Smith of The Tampa Bay Times):

The injury was a nasty one and it is truly not a surprise there is no current timetable for Cobb’s return. The fluid in his ear means Cobb is having trouble with his balance, which would obviously present some serious issues on the mound.

Cobb is continuing to work out his arm as the Rays do not want him to lose any strength, but it sounds as if he is still a ways out from taking the mound again. It’s only natural speculation will mount about him missing the rest of the year but that seems like an extreme notion at this juncture, at least according to Cobb himself.
