As if inviting the Tim Tebow circus into the clubhouse wasn’t bad enough, they’re now dealing with another distraction that is the Aaron Hernandez situation. It’s tragic that a young man lost his life, and the legal situation for Hernandez is looking more and more serious by the day.

The Patriots have their fair share of distractions this summer, making it hard to focus on the 2013 season. But Jerod Mayo says the New England Patriots have to just blcok out the noise.

“We always talk about ignoring the noise, and we’re doing the same now,” linebacker Jerod Mayo told ESPNBoston.com on Sunday. “Whether it’s good or bad, we always talk about ignoring the noise.”

If anyone is benefitting from this it is Rob Gronkowski. His offseason antics seem like a distant memory in hindsight of the current situation the Patriots find themselves in.

“I’m going to leave that one alone until everything’s done or whatever,” Mayo said of Hernandez’s legal situation.

The New England way of doing things seems to be benefitting the team as they all remained tight lipped about the on going drama.
