The Cleveland Cavaliers appear to be exploring all options at the top of the draft and one move they gauged was a potential trade for Portland Trail Blazers star LaMarcus Aldridge. According to reports, the Cavaliers were willing to part ways with the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and an additional selection in exchange for Aldridge.

While the Cavaliers would have loved to pair Aldridge with Kyrie Irving, the Trail Blazers weren’t biting.

Per ESPN.com’s latest list of trade rumors:

"What are the Cleveland Cavaliers seeking in exchange for the No. 1 pick? Sources say they reached out to the Portland Trail Blazers in an attempt to land LaMarcus Aldridge for the Nos. 1 and 19 picks. The Blazers quickly rebuffed them."

It wouldn’t be a move that makes much sense for the Trail Blazers, so it is not shocking that they immediate shot down any possibility of the move taking place.

For Cleveland, it was a nice effort that could have paid off in a big way. You can’t blame them for trying.

Despite all of the trade rumors surrounding the top pick in the draft, you would have to believe that the Cavaliers will hang on to the pick and select the top player on their draft board.
