NBA Trade Rumors: Indiana Pacers Looking To Move Gerald Green, Pick

NBA Trade Rumors – The Indiana Pacers have recently been rumored to be a potential destination for Jimmer Fredette of the Sacramento Kings, but they are also looking to shop Gerald Green and their draft pick, according to ESPN:

In addition to the Pacers’ Jimmer discussions, sources say Indiana has made the No. 23 pick available in hopes that an interested party would be willing to take on the contract of Gerald Green for the right to acquire Indy’s pick.

The Pacers have a lot of players on the team that will have to be paid a decent amount — David West will have to be re-signed and Paul George will be due for a max extension very soon. As such, the team is naturally going to look to reshape their bench a little bit.

Tyler Hansbrough is a restricted free agent and DJ Augustin will be coming off the books as well. If the Pacers could move Green and get rid of his salary — $7 million over the next two years — they could potentially look to lure coveted free agents such as Kyle Korver and JJ Redick, or other players that provide a threat around the perimeter.

So they trade one garbage player for an even worst one, and they give up there pick

Disagree… Fredette makes way less than Green, and still has upside. I think he was misused in Sacramento. And who would Indy get at Pick #23….? I could tell you the answer, but you already know.

And Green, showed promise in the last part of the season, I can’t disagree with the cap dump though, but it’s a fairly deep draft. If they think they can be a player on one FA, they should definitely do so, but I was actually looking forward to him having a full season under his belt due to how he finished last season. My dream scenario, was move Mahimi and draft Whitey.

I agree with you Steve. Green’s consistency was terrible this last season. The only reason to keep Green would be to make a highlight real of awesome dunks, problem is, it would be a very short highlight real.
Fredette can hit from anywhere on the court and he gets paid less than half of what Green gets paid. It will be his 3rd season, he averaged 16 to 17 minutes a game, 7 points and, most important, 1 turnover. I believe Bird liked him when he came out in 2011 as well, and we all know that Bird knows what he’s doing. I’m not sure about giving up the 23rd pick though, I’d like the Pacers to take Hardaway Jr., if he’s still available.

Pull the string on Fredette. Green’s IQ of BB lacking severely. Athleticism just can’t make up for all the mental errors and being lost on the floor and bewildered. Fredette improved a ton over last year. Instant offense and learning to run the half court offense. Looked very good at the end of the season.

Trade the no 23 no.53 Mahinmi, green, Plumlee, Johnson, Hansbrough, etc. to Clippers for Bledsoe. Best point in NBA. Bledsoe starts for Pacers. Hill to off guard and Fredette leads second unit.
